Passports / Visas
Every visitor to Libya (except nationals from other Arabic states and Malta) requires a visa to enter Libya. A business visitor must be invited by a Libyan company or national organization. The Libyan sponsor must apply to the Immigration Department with full details of the visitor, including profession and reason for the visit. Once the application is complete, the business visitor can then make their application to:

It normally takes one to two weeks for the visa to be issued. Realistically, allow 5 - 7 weeks to obtain a visa, this includes Sponsor's time applying to Immigration Department. An Arabic translation of your passport is required in order to process your visa application. To speed this process up you may wish to do this independently prior to submitting your application to the LPB. You should also include in your application a copy of the Libyan sponsors invitation letter.

All visitors to Libya must register within one week of arrival, all hotels will be able to do this for you for a small fee, however please make sure that when you check in, that you want them to provide this service. Failure to register can result in fines or you not being allowed to leave the country!
